QUP Newsletter
Welcome to the inaugural issue of the QUP Newsletter. Every month the QUP newsletter will bring you news about new & renewing members, new industry-academia research projects and information about the QUP program. In addition we may send additional emails for QualNet models that industry partners are looking for. If you would like to opt-out of the QUP Newsletter please see the bottom of this email.
QUP Industry-Academia Research Collaboration
Scalable Network Technologies (SNT) started from pioneering work done in the academic research community. We actively partner with universities to solve challenging computer networking problems. Our industry customers and partners often seek research expertise in specific areas. We would like to connect them with leading QUP researchers.
Later this year we will expand the program to enable QUP members to share their QualNet models with other researchers. The contributors will maintain ownership of their original work. Any published research based on the contributed model must cite the original author(s). Additional details will be announced in the May edition of the QUP Newsletter.
Benefits of Joining:
1. Increase awareness of your research work among other researchers, QUP members and industry customers.
2. Improve your research standing. If your models are used as part of a research project, then users must cite your work in their manuscripts or research papers.
3. Connect and consult with other academia and industry users of network modeling and simulation who need your expertise.
4. Improve career opportunities. SNT customers frequently contact us with requests to find QualNet users who have developed protocol models.
Following technologies have drawn industry interest:
- IEEE 802.11n Higher Throughput using MIMO
- IEEE 802.11p Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
- IEEE 802.16a Mesh Mode
- IEEE 802.16m Advanced Air Interface
- IEEE 802.22 Wireless networks utilizing white spaces in the TV frequency spectrum
- LTE (Long Term Evolution / 4G Cellular / 3GPP Release 8)
- Public Safety Radio Communications Project 25 (P25)
- WiMedia / UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) / ECMA 368/369
If you are developing QualNet models for these technologies and are interested in working with industry, please complete the form below.

Knowledgebase for QualNet
Last year we launched a new web-based knowledgebase that answers commonly asked questions. It supplements the Community Forums which provide in-depth help from other QualNet users.
The knowledgebase is located at:
http://www.scalable-networks.com/kb/
Some Key Features:
- Provides immediate, 24x7 access to common license and support questions,
- Articles are rated according viewing popularity and user ratings,
- Articles are categorized for easier browsing,
- Other functions like a powerful search, printer friendly articles, user questions, and sharing via email.
EXata for QUP
EXata, a new generation network emulator, is right now undergoing beta testing with a select group of users. We have received tremendous interest from the QUP community. EXata 2.0.1 will be available for QUP members towards the end of May 2009. Additional details on its availability and download informationwill be announced in the May edition of QUP Newsletter. For more information about EXata click here
QUP Careers Database
The QUP Careers Database is a benefit of being a QualNet University Program (QUP) member. It connects QUP members looking for internships and full-time jobs with SNT customers. SNT customers often contact us when looking to hire networking experts who have experience in using QualNet. The database may also be used by SNT Human Resources to recruit interns and full-time employees.
