Linux users:

To determine your version of glibc, run the command ‘rpm -q glibc’. glibc 2.3.2 is installed on Red Hat 9 by default, while 7.3 and 8.0 use 2.2.x. Mandrake versions 8.0-9.0 use glibc 2.2; 9.1 and higher use 2.3.x.
