How can application developers, network architects, or protocol designers achieve confidence that a proposed design for a network or network-enabled system will meet its requirements under expected operating conditions? This can be particularly challenging for mobile communications, networks that must carry mixed traffic to include streaming video, audio and imagery, as well as large-scale networks that may include wired, wireless, and satellite communications.
The SCALABLE team has decades of collective experience in the use of modeling and simulation for network design and engineering, knowledge management, information sharing, and cyber threat analysis. All while also adhering to system design and engineering best practices and processes for security and interoperability. Our tools and expertise has been used in large military Programs of Records (PORs) as well as by Fortune 50 companies to ensure effective communications and network planning. This can be seen in network assessments and the continued evaluations that have been performed using the Joint Network Emulator (JNE) for the DoD as well as using our COTS products, QualNet and EXata, for many worldwide customers. We utilize modeling and simulation and network analysis tools in the engineering and network design processes to save time and reduce costs by early identification of interoperability or scalability challenges, as by supporting an effective analysis of alternatives in the design process. We are then able to mitigate any significant risks in the development of proposed network architectures with specific requirements and constraints. Our in depth understanding of networks can support formal architecture and engineering reviews.
The SCALABLE network modeling applications are used to design, analyze, and test networks, networked systems and distributed applications behavior. SCALABLE’s engineers are proficient in studying operational characteristics and elements of live networks and constructing high fidelity simulation models of networks that run faster than real-time. These network design services provide predictive performance results of the modeled network with rapid turnaround. The team is fully qualified to implement models and simulations of networks to provide a proof-of-concept for the operation of the target network.
