Network Architecture – Network Analysis Tools
SCALABLE designs, develops, reviews, and evaluates computer network and systems architectures, applications, protocols, and full-spectrum cyber operations supporting both new and existing networks and network-enabled systems. SCALABLE provides military personnel and defense contractors with a high-fidelity live-virtual-constructive modeling and simulation environment to quickly and cost effectively plan battlefield network architectures and mission scenarios. We have developed advanced cyber threat analysis solutions to assess vulnerabilities and cyber resilience of weapon systems & computer and communication networks. SCALABLE engineers have collectively received over $20M in funding for advanced science & technology projects in these areas from agencies that include DARPA, Office of Naval Research (ONR), TRMC Science & Technology Program, and the US Army for research & development activities in these areas. SCALABLE has been awarded numerous Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 SBIRs from multiple DoD agencies.
Our team collectively has decades of experience in network research and development, computer network defense (CND), computer network offense (CNO), full-spectrum cyber operations, network modeling & simulation, wireless communications, network architecture, parallel computing, and system and network design and interoperability. Our team follows industry standards for best practices and processes for software design, development, security, and interoperability. The Joint Network Emulator (JNE), that is used throughout the DoD in the design, test, and analysis of battlefield communication networks, and StealthNet, a LVC library that works in conjunction with JNE to assess cyber resiliency of heterogeneous, distributed, and large-scale networked systems are two examples of widely adopted systems that have been produced as a result of our efforts.We utilize modeling and simulation and network analysis tools in the network development engineering and design processes as a matter of efficiency to save time and costs from traditional design to models and permit immediate identification of conflicts, risks, and effective analysis of alternatives in the design process. We are then able to mitigate any significant risks in the development of enhanced network architectures with specific requirements and constraints. Our in depth understanding of networks and network development allows for formal network architecture and engineering reviews, and the ability to provide recommendations regarding knowledge management. We can provide consistent comparisons of alternative designs in multiple operating conditions and evaluate the impact using our network analysis tools.
